FIR for parking on Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway causes jam

Gurgaon: An FIR was registered against an individual for parking his vehicle in the middle of a busy stretch on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway (NH8) near the Manesar bus stand, causing significant traffic disruption. Police officials stated that a flyover construction is currently ongoing near the bus stand, which has forced vehicles traveling from Jaipur towards Delhi to be diverted onto a service road.

Incident Details

A Hyundai Aura, bearing temporary registration number T026HR5704E, was found parked on the third lane of the service road without any indicator lights. ASI Parveen reported that he parked the police vehicle about 30 meters ahead and waited for the car to move, but it remained stationary. This obstruction led to traffic congestion and increased the risk of an accident on the busy highway stretch, police said.

Driver Identified

When the police team approached the vehicle, they discovered a man standing next to the driver's window holding the keys. Upon questioning, he identified himself as Virendra, a native of Nasirpur village in Mainpuri district, Uttar Pradesh, and a resident of Roshanpura, Najafgarh, New Delhi. During questioning, Virendra failed to provide any satisfactory explanation for parking the vehicle on the road without indicators and causing obstruction to traffic.

Legal Action

Police took possession of the vehicle and its insurance documents as evidence. When asked to produce the vehicle's registration certificate, the driver stated that he did not have the certificate with him. The Manesar police registered a case under Section 285 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which penalizes anyone who negligently or intentionally causes danger, obstruction, or injury to others in a public way or waterway.

Enforcement Intensified

Meanwhile, the Gurgaon Traffic Police announced that it has intensified enforcement against traffic violations across the city. During a special campaign against wrong-side driving conducted in May, police issued 6,797 challans and imposed penalties amounting to Rs 41.56 lakh. Police urged motorists to follow traffic regulations, use designated lanes, and avoid actions that could endanger other road users or disrupt traffic flow.
