Two motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire outside the residence of a builder in south Delhi's Saket on Tuesday, allegedly over the builder's refusal to comply with an extortion demand, police said.
Incident Details
The incident occurred in Lado Sarai under the Saket police station area. According to preliminary information, the attackers fired seven rounds outside the home of Mahavir, a local builder, before fleeing the scene. No injuries were reported.
Extortion Link Suspected
Sources indicated that the firing may be linked to an extortion demand made to the builder by a known individual, who is also associated with a local gang. The main conspirator is believed to be connected to criminal networks operating in the region.
Upon receiving information, police teams rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. Crime scene investigators examined the location and collected empty cartridge cases from the scene.
Investigation Underway
Police have launched a search operation to trace the accused. Authorities are scanning CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify the suspects and track their movements. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
