Five Killed in Bengaluru as Car Collides with KSRTC Bus on Tumakuru Road
A devastating road accident near Jindal on Tumakuru Road, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, resulted in the tragic deaths of five individuals late Saturday night. The incident involved a collision between a Tata Indica car and a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Details of the Fatal Collision
According to police reports, the accident occurred around 11:30 pm when the Tata Indica, traveling from Tumakuru towards Bengaluru, reportedly crashed into a road divider. The vehicle then crossed into the opposite lane, toppled, and collided head-on with a KSRTC bus coming from the opposite direction. The impact was severe, leaving the car completely mangled and causing extensive damage to its front portion.
Based on preliminary investigations, authorities suspect overspeeding to be the primary cause of this horrific crash. The force of the collision was so intense that it led to immediate fatalities and critical injuries.
Casualties and Victims Identified
Four occupants of the car died on the spot due to the impact, while the driver, who was critically injured, was rushed to a nearby hospital. Tragically, he later succumbed to his injuries without responding to treatment, bringing the total death toll to five.
The deceased have been partially identified as Harshit and Likhit, both residents of Doddaballapur. The identities of the remaining three victims are yet to be ascertained. Both Harshit and Likhit were students studying in private colleges. Family members revealed that Harshit had left home around 8:30 pm to meet his friends, highlighting the sudden and heartbreaking nature of this loss.
The bodies have been shifted to Nelamangala Government Hospital for post-mortem examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
Bus Passengers and Aftermath
The KSRTC bus was carrying 42 passengers at the time of the accident. Fortunately, only a few passengers seated in the front rows suffered minor bruises. Following the collision, all passengers were safely shifted to another bus to continue their journey.
A case has been registered at the Madanayakanahalli police station, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to this tragic event. Authorities are examining all factors, including vehicle conditions and driver behavior, to prevent similar incidents in the future.
