In a shocking incident in the national capital, five juveniles have been taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the brutal murder of a man on a railway track. The crime, which police say was a retaliatory act against sustained harassment and extortion, came to light earlier this month.
Body Discovered with Multiple Injuries
The case unfolded on December 6, when the body of a man was discovered on the railway tracks above the Wazirabad industrial area traffic underpass. Personnel from the Subzi Mandi Railway Station police rushed to the scene. Their examination revealed the victim had sustained multiple stab wounds and blunt-force injuries, prompting the immediate registration of a murder case.
The deceased was later identified as Monu, also known as 'Crossing'. Police records from the Ashok Vihar police station listed him as a known offender with a previous criminal history that included cases of murder, causing grievous hurt, and violations under the Arms Act.
Juveniles Apprehended and Motive Revealed
Investigators from Ashok Vihar police acted swiftly and picked up the five juveniles later on the same day, December 6. Following mandatory medical examinations, the accused were produced before the Child Welfare Committee as per legal protocol for minors.
During preliminary inquiries, a disturbing motive emerged. A senior police officer stated that Monu was allegedly harassing the boys regularly and extorting money from them. Fed up with the persistent torment, the group of juveniles reportedly conspired to end the harassment permanently.
The Fatal Ambush on the Tracks
According to the police version of events, the plan was executed on the intervening night of December 5 and 6. The juveniles lay in wait for Monu near the railway tracks. In a coordinated attack, they ambushed him, assaulting him with a knife and stones. After the fatal assault, the group fled the spot, leaving the body on the tracks.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities piece together the final sequence of events. The case highlights a grim escalation of conflict on the streets of Delhi, where alleged extortion led to a violent and fatal conclusion by a group of minors.
