Five Suspects With Identical Surname Arrested in Ontario Gas Station Heist
Police in Ontario, Canada, arrested five individuals after they stormed a local gas station with uncovered faces. The group made off with coffee machines, an oven, a microwave, and several other items during the brazen theft.
All Suspects Share the Same Surname
The crime has generated significant attention on Canadian social media platforms. Authorities confirmed all five arrested individuals share the surname Patel. Police apprehended them directly at the crime scene when officers arrived.
The gas station operates in a small Ontario community. According to reports from INsauga, those arrested include:
- 33-year-old Devangkumar Patel
- 45-year-old Yogeshkumar Patel
- 38-year-old Bhavinkumar Patel
- 38-year-old Mitulkumar Patel
- 29-year-old Ricky Patel
Charges and Court Proceedings
Police have charged each suspect with robbery and mischief under $5,000. Law enforcement officials could not immediately confirm the exact relationship between the five men. All suspects received release from custody and now face a court date scheduled for February 26.
Employee Describes Terrifying Encounter
A store employee, who recently started working at the gas station, described being alone when the five men barged into the establishment. The group attempted to threaten him and instructed him to step back while they removed items from the store.
"They were just saying to each other to pick up the things and take them," the employee recalled. "They were quick – less than five minutes."
Police Response and Investigation
After the robbers departed, the staff member contacted the store owner, who then notified police. Officers arrived to find the suspects still present at the premises.
Ontario Provincial Police spokesperson Constable Jeff Hare addressed the unusual nature of the incident. "I definitely wouldn't say this is a common occurrence," Hare told The Free Press. "That was a significant number of people arrested. That was definitely alarming."
The case continues to develop as authorities investigate potential connections between the suspects and examine surveillance footage from the gas station.
