Madikeri: The forest mobile squad has arrested two individuals for allegedly attempting to sell a star tortoise. Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid at a bus shelter in Kannanda Padubira Circle in Madikeri city. The operation took place at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, leading to the detention of the two accused and the seizure of their belongings, according to an official release.

The forest mobile squad received intelligence that two persons were trying to sell a star tortoise, a protected species under the Wildlife Protection Act. The team swiftly raided the specified location and apprehended the suspects. The star tortoise was recovered from their possession, along with other items. The accused are currently in custody and will be produced before the court.
