A 63-year-old former Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) in Bengaluru has lodged a criminal complaint alleging that he was abducted by four men who posed as contract killers. The men reportedly held him at gunpoint and released him only after he agreed to pay them Rs 2 crore.
Incident Details
The complainant, Dayananda Reddy, a resident of Bommasandra in Anekal, told Attibele police that the incident occurred around 12:30 am on Tuesday while he was returning home from the Gold Coin Club on Huskur Road.
According to the complaint, two men on a motorcycle blocked his Toyota Velfire near a temple in Heelalige and claimed that a 'madam' had sent a gift. When Reddy's driver stepped out to collect the purported gift box, the men allegedly entered the vehicle and threatened Reddy with a gun.
Sequence of Events
After driving a short distance, the suspects stopped near a red sedan with a Kerala registration number. Two more men emerged from the car, ordered the driver to leave, and allegedly took Reddy to a secluded spot in KHB Colony. There, the four men told him they were supari killers who had accepted a contract of Rs 10 crore to murder him, as per the complaint.
Reddy said he pleaded for his life and offered money instead. The men allegedly agreed to spare him and demanded Rs 2 crore in cash by the afternoon. Before leaving, one of them identified himself as Praveen and shared a mobile number.
Reddy stated that he was released around 4:30 am and later approached the police. No arrests have been made so far, and investigations are ongoing.
