Berhampur: Police on Wednesday arrested four persons for allegedly abducting and assaulting a 23-year-old man from Dhanaghara under K Nuagaon police station limits in Ganjam district on Tuesday.
Details of the Arrest
The accused were identified as Nigam Gouda (39) of Chikitigada, Sankar Gouda (26) and Sangram Panigrahy (27) of Jugudi, and Amar Nath Sahu (27) of Golanthara. Police seized a knife, two motorbikes and four mobile phones from them.
Incident and Escape
Police said the victim was waiting for a bus at Dhanaghara to return to his village when the accused allegedly abducted and assaulted him with punches and kicks. They allegedly took him to a crematorium near Khosabadi road with the intention to kill him. The victim, however, managed to escape and lodge a complaint.
Investigation Ongoing
Police said the motive was not immediately known, but suspected previous enmity. Further probe is on.
