Trichy: Four people were arrested on Friday night for assaulting a 29-year-old man after he allegedly sent inappropriate messages to a married woman via Instagram.
According to police sources, B Ibrahimsha, 29, from Pookkollai Street, works at a meat shop near Gandhi Market. He allegedly sent inappropriate messages to a married woman over the past few days. The woman informed her husband, Ezhil Rajan.
Rajan and his wife obtained Ibrahimsha's address and workplace details through a conversation. On Friday, Rajan, along with his friends S Suresh, 30, K Veerapandian, 26, and Manivannan, 38, went to the shop and confronted Ibrahimsha. They abused him, physically assaulted him, and issued threats of dire consequences.
Ibrahimsha, who was injured, lodged a complaint with the police. A case was registered at the Gandhi Market police station under sections 296 (b), 115 (2), and 351 (3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for abuse, assault, and criminal intimidation.
Police arrested the four accused later that afternoon. They were produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody. An investigation is underway.
This incident highlights the serious consequences of cyber harassment and the swift action taken by law enforcement. The accused now face legal proceedings as authorities continue to investigate the matter thoroughly.
