Ranchi police on Tuesday night arrested four men for allegedly attempting to rob a bus driver at gunpoint near Argora Chowk. The incident occurred when the bus stopped at a no-entry point, and three accused boarded the vehicle.
Details of the Arrest
SP (city) Paras Rana confirmed on Wednesday that Kundan Kumar Soni, Abhijit Kumar, and Nitin Pandey, aged between 22 and 30 years, were arrested for attempting to rob the driver. Additionally, Golu Ram was arrested for allegedly supplying the arms and ammunition used in the crime. Police recovered a country-made pistol and an empty cartridge from the scene.
Sequence of Events
According to police, the bus halted near Argora Chowk when the three accused boarded. Shortly after, Soni allegedly pointed a gun at the driver and demanded money. He then fired at the driver, who luckily escaped unhurt. A patrolling team and traffic police stationed nearby rushed to the spot and apprehended Soni with the weapon. Overnight searches led to the arrest of Kumar, Pandey, and Ram from different locations in the city.
The swift action by law enforcement ensured that no one was injured. The investigation is ongoing to determine if the suspects are linked to other similar incidents in the area.
