Four Arrested for Attempted Murder Over Case Settlement Refusal

Pettah police have arrested four individuals for allegedly attempting to murder a youth from Kadakampally after he refused to cooperate in settling an earlier assault case pending against them in court.

Details of the Arrest

The arrested individuals have been identified as Saji (42), Sanal (37) of Anayara, Sharan (37) of Kunnukuzhi, and Anu (38). According to police, the accused and the victim are neighbours, and an earlier assault case involving the accused is currently pending before a court.

Incident Details

The latest attack was allegedly carried out after the victim refused to settle the pending case. The incident occurred on Saturday near Anayara Government Lower Primary School while the youth was travelling on a scooter. The accused allegedly intercepted him on the road, threatened him to settle the pending case, and verbally abused him. When the victim refused, the accused allegedly assaulted him using an iron rod and kicked him repeatedly, police said.

Victim's Condition

The youth sustained injuries in the attack and later sought treatment at a hospital. Police have registered a case and are investigating further.
