Rourkela: Police in Deogarh district have arrested four men on Monday evening for allegedly gang raping a 24-year-old woman and circulating photos and videos of the crime on social media.

Accused Identified

The accused persons were identified as Daktar Bhuinya (33), Manoj Mahakul (28), Uda Dheebar (26), and Prashant Nayak.

Incident Details

According to police sources, the woman was returning home after visiting a relative on the night of April 20 when the accused allegedly dragged her to a secluded spot and sexually assaulted her. They also recorded visuals of the crime on their mobile phones and circulated them.

Legal Proceedings

The survivor lodged a complaint on April 26, following which police registered a case and launched an investigation. All four accused were detained, interrogated, and later arrested. Medical examinations of both the survivor and the accused have been conducted.

“The four accused have been arrested and further investigation is underway,” said S Badhei, inspector in-charge.
