Four Injured in High-Speed Bus-Truck Collision on Ratlam-Indore Highway
A serious road accident occurred on the busy Ratlam-Indore four-lane highway on Saturday morning, resulting in injuries to four passengers. The incident took place near Dharad, approximately 10 kilometers from Ratlam, when a speeding private bus collided with a truck while attempting an overtaking maneuver.
Details of the Accident and Immediate Aftermath
The collision happened around 8:30 AM, with the bus traveling at high speed crashing into the rear of a slower-moving truck. The impact was severe, crushing the front portion of the bus and completely shattering its windshield. This caused panic among the passengers onboard.
Police reports indicate there were between 30 to 35 passengers on the bus at the time of the accident. Following the crash, three to four individuals, including one woman, sustained injuries. All injured persons were promptly shifted to a nearby medical college for treatment.
Police Response and Traffic Disruption
In a concerning development, the bus driver fled the accident scene immediately after the collision. Upon receiving information about the mishap, Dharad outpost in-charge Deepak Damor, along with other police personnel, local sarpanch Vikramsingh Rathore, and villagers, quickly reached the site.
An ambulance was called to transport the injured to medical facilities. The accident caused significant traffic disruption on the four-lane highway, with vehicles piling up on the Ratlam to Indore side for some time. Police later arranged for a crane to remove the damaged bus and restore normal traffic movement.
Official Statement and Investigation
Bilpank police station in-charge Ayub Khan provided crucial details about the accident sequence. According to his statement, the truck was moving at a slow speed when the bus, driven at excessive speed during an overtaking attempt, crashed into it from behind.
The police are continuing their investigation into the incident, focusing on the circumstances that led to the collision and the subsequent fleeing of the bus driver from the accident site.
