Four Lives Lost in Kozhikode's Early Morning Road Tragedy
A devastating road accident in Kozhikode's Ramanattukara area claimed four lives and left one person with serious injuries in the early hours of Saturday. The tragic incident took place around 3:30 AM in front of We Park at Modern Bazar, Ramanattukara. According to police reports, a group of friends was traveling from Ramanattukara towards Kozhikode when their car was struck by a truck coming from the opposite direction. The impact of the collision was so severe that the smaller vehicle was completely crushed, trapping all occupants inside.
Fire force officials and rescue teams worked urgently to extricate the victims from the wreckage. They had to use specialized equipment to cut open the deformed car structure to reach those trapped inside. All victims were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for emergency medical attention.
Victims Identified and Medical Outcomes
The deceased have been identified as Vimal Kumar (37), Ajeesh (31), Shyam Lal (33), and Dinil (31). While three of the victims were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital, Shyam Lal succumbed to his injuries around 7:00 AM on Saturday after fighting for his life for several hours.
Another individual, identified as Dijin, sustained serious injuries in the crash and is currently undergoing intensive medical treatment. The truck driver involved in the accident escaped with only minor injuries and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
Police Investigation and Legal Action
Nallalam police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the exact cause of this tragic accident. The FIR has been filed under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Police authorities have confirmed that the bodies of all four victims were handed over to their respective families after completing the necessary autopsy procedures.
