Four Minors Arrested in Ratlam for Gangrape and Murder of 17-Year-Old Girl
In a deeply disturbing incident, four minors were arrested on Saturday in connection with the gangrape and murder of a 17-year-old girl in the Sarvan police station area of Ratlam. The crime, which occurred on March 18, has sent shockwaves through the local community and highlighted serious concerns about juvenile delinquency.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The victim was attending a wedding in her village when she stepped out of the venue with her younger sister around 3 am. At this time, she was abducted by one of the accused and subjected to a brutal assault. Soon after, three other minors arrived at the scene. One of them committed the assault while the others restrained her. To avoid detection, the perpetrators strangled her with her own scarf and abandoned her body approximately 200 metres from her home.
Her younger sister managed to escape and immediately alerted family members, leading to the recovery of the body around 4 am. The swift response from the victim's family and local authorities was crucial in initiating the investigation.
Police Investigation and Arrests
Following the incident, Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar established a special investigation team under the leadership of Additional SP Vivek Kumar Lal and SDOP Sailana, Neelam Baghel. The team conducted a thorough examination of the crime scene, gathered technical evidence, and identified the four minors from a neighbouring village as suspects.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in the crime. The case was registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including sections 137(2), 103(1), 3(5), 64, 70(1), 87, and 61(2). The minors have been remanded to a juvenile correction facility, and investigators have collected physical evidence from the scene to strengthen the case.
