Four transgender persons have been arrested in Tumakuru district for allegedly robbing men on a national highway in Karnataka. The arrests were made following a complaint filed by a victim who was robbed while resting at a designated stop area.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred at around 4 am on June 14. The victim had parked his car at a rest area near Sira on the Tumakuru–Hiriyur stretch of National Highway 48 to take a break. He was reportedly approached by the suspects, who allegedly robbed him at knifepoint before fleeing the scene.

The police launched an investigation after the complaint was registered. Based on CCTV footage and intelligence inputs, the four suspects were identified and apprehended within two days.

The arrested individuals have been identified as residents of Tumakuru district. Preliminary investigations suggest that the group may have been involved in similar robberies targeting lone travelers on the same highway stretch. Police are probing whether they are part of a larger network.

The suspects have been charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for robbery and criminal intimidation. They were produced before a local court and remanded to judicial custody.
