Fourth Accused Arrested in Mohali Society Robbery-Murder Case
Mohali police have made a significant breakthrough in a high-profile robbery and murder case. They arrested the fourth accused, Dilawar Singh, from Panipat in Haryana. This arrest completes the police net around all suspects involved in the crime.
Crime at High-Security Society
The incident occurred at a high-security housing society in Zirakpur. A Nepal national named Ramesh, aged 32, became the victim. Ramesh worked in a flat within the society and followed a routine of leaving after his morning and evening duties.
Police received an alert after someone took the injured Ramesh to a hospital. Investigating officer Jaswant Singh quickly reached the flat. He discovered that Ramesh had suffered severe neck wounds. The victim succumbed to his injuries, turning the case into a murder investigation.
Previous Employment Facilitated Crime
Dilawar Singh, the latest arrest, had previously worked as a supervisor at the same housing society. Police allege he used his intimate knowledge of the premises to plan and facilitate the robbery. His familiarity with the layout and routines proved crucial for the criminal act.
All four accused had employment connections to the society. Besides Dilawar, the other three—Happy from Shatabgarh in Zirakpur, and Parvinder Singh alias Bhindi and Tarsem Singh alias Soma, both from Banur in Patiala—worked as drivers there. This common background helped them coordinate the crime.
Investigation and Recovery
Authorities initially registered a case against unidentified persons under Section 103 of the BNS. Multiple police teams formed to crack the case. They relied on technical evidence and secret information to track down the suspects.
Investigations revealed a grim sequence of events. The accused entered the flat with robbery as their primary intention. When Ramesh resisted their efforts, they allegedly murdered him. The perpetrators then fled with gold and cash from the premises.
Police arrested the first three accused earlier. Based on disclosures from these individuals, investigators received inputs that led them to Dilawar Singh. Officers picked him up from his location, marking the fourth arrest.
Stolen Property Recovered
The arrest yielded tangible results. On the basis of Dilawar Singh's disclosure, police recovered stolen gold worth approximately Rs 30 lakh. This recovery represents a major portion of the loot taken during the robbery.
Police records show that Dilawar Singh has previous criminal cases against him. This history suggests a pattern of unlawful behavior beyond the current incident.
Legal Proceedings and Custody
The court has remanded Dilawar Singh to four-day police custody. This allows investigators to interrogate him thoroughly about the crime details and possible accomplices. The remaining three accused currently remain in 14-day judicial custody.
Police continue their interrogation process. They aim to determine whether anyone else participated in or supported the crime. Authorities have assured the public of strict action against all culprits involved in this heinous act.
The case highlights security concerns even in supposedly high-security residential complexes. It also demonstrates police persistence in pursuing all leads to solve violent crimes against residents and workers.
