Four youths from Ambala, Haryana, were allegedly duped by fraudsters who promised them jobs in the Indian Army. The incident came to light when the victims approached the local police after the accused failed to deliver on their promises.
How the Scam Unfolded
The fraudsters, posing as army recruitment agents, approached the youths and claimed they could secure them positions in the army in exchange for money. The victims, eager to join the armed forces, paid substantial amounts and handed over their original documents. However, after taking the money and documents, the accused went missing.
Victims Realize They Were Cheated
When the youths tried to contact the fraudsters for updates on the recruitment process, their phones were switched off. Suspecting foul play, they approached the Ambala police and filed a complaint. The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and are investigating the matter.
Police Investigation Underway
Police officials have stated that they are working to identify and apprehend the fraudsters. They have also warned the public to be cautious of such scams and to verify the credentials of anyone claiming to offer army jobs. The police are also checking if there are more victims who have been cheated by the same gang.
This incident highlights the growing trend of job scams targeting youth, especially those aspiring for government jobs. Authorities have urged people to only apply through official channels and to report any suspicious activities to the police immediately.
