Garhwa: Acting on a tip-off received by Garhwa District Commissioner Ananya Mittal regarding the illegal sale of gas cylinders in the black market, Sadar Sub-Divisional Officer Sanjay Kumar conducted a raid on Monday evening. The operation took place in a semi-constructed building located in the Sonpurwa locality of the town, resulting in the recovery of 13 LPG cylinders.
Details of the Raid
During the raid, the operator of the premises, Jay Krishna, who runs a gas stove repair shop, was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for the presence of the cylinders. All recovered cylinders were identified as belonging to Indane gas. The SDO stated, 'When queried, no satisfactory response was given by operator Jay Krishna.'
Verification and Denial
Sources revealed that Krishna claimed to work as a delivery person for Indane. However, when the official contacted the agency to verify his employment, they denied any association with him. The SDO further noted that the building has been sealed, and the agency has been instructed to verify the recovered cylinders. 'Further process has been initiated against the owner of the building,' the SDO added.
This raid is part of ongoing efforts to curb the black market sale of essential commodities in the region. Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify any larger network involved in the illegal trade.
