Gas Cylinder Stolen from Kitchen in Tiruvallur While Family Was Upstairs
In a brazen daylight theft, an unidentified person stole a cooking gas cylinder from a house in Tiruvallur on Monday morning. The incident occurred while the family members were occupied with their daily routine, highlighting vulnerabilities even as the broader LPG crisis begins to ease.
Family Unaware During Theft
According to police sources, the homeowner, Shainsha, was upstairs with his wife, preparing their children for school. During this time, a door on the ground floor was inadvertently left open, providing easy access to the thief.
The suspect entered the house and proceeded directly to the kitchen. There, he detached the gas cylinder from the stove, carried it out, and reportedly attached it to a motorcycle before fleeing the scene.
Discovery and Police Complaint
Shortly after, Shainsha's wife came downstairs to start cooking and immediately noticed the cylinder was missing. The family quickly checked the CCTV cameras installed in the area, which revealed clear footage of the youth entering the house and stealing the cylinder.
Shainsha promptly lodged a formal complaint with the police. Authorities are now examining the CCTV footage, which is said to show the suspect's face and the registration number of the motorcycle used in the crime.
Ongoing Investigation
Police have launched a thorough investigation into the theft. The visibility of the suspect's face and vehicle details in the footage is expected to aid in identifying and apprehending the culprit. Further inquiries are underway to determine if this incident is isolated or part of a larger pattern, especially given the context of recent LPG shortages.
This case serves as a reminder for residents to remain vigilant, even during routine activities, and to ensure proper security measures are in place to prevent such opportunistic crimes.
