Gaya District Ramps Up Security and Infrastructure for Holi Festivities

In preparation for the vibrant Holi celebrations, the Gaya district administration has significantly intensified security measures and infrastructure arrangements to ensure public safety and smooth festivities. District Magistrate Shashank Shubhankar has spearheaded a comprehensive plan focusing on law and order, emergency readiness, and community welfare.

Enhanced Security and Surveillance Operations

Special patrolling units have been deployed across densely populated zones and critical transit points, particularly around Gaya railway station. These patrols are active during late-night and early-morning hours to deter any untoward incidents. Additionally, social media platforms are under strict monitoring to prevent mischief-mongering, with warnings issued to users against spreading misinformation.

SSP Sushil Kumar has instructed all Station House Officers (SHOs) to conduct round-the-clock patrols at pre-identified sensitive locations throughout the district. Police personnel are also enforcing prohibition laws rigorously, especially in border areas adjoining Jharkhand, to curb illegal activities.

Emergency Services and Health Preparedness

The district administration has mandated that fire brigade officials remain on high alert, aiming to minimize response times in case of emergencies. Healthcare facilities, including Jai Prakash Narain District Hospital and Anugrah Narain Magadh Medical College and Hospital (ANMMCH), have been equipped with special arrangements. Doctors, including specialists, are on standby, and health department officials are ensuring the easy availability of ambulances for prompt medical assistance.

Infrastructure and Utility Management

To support the festival period, authorities are guaranteeing regular power and water supply. In response to concerns from civil society members about loose hanging distribution cables in crowded areas, the District Magistrate has directed electricity officials to address these issues promptly. Special attention is being given to areas near Holika Dahan points to eliminate any hazards from dangling wires.

Traffic Regulations and Event Coordination

Traffic personnel have received strict instructions to prevent risky bike driving, commonly known as 'Laheriakat,' and to promptly penalize offenders. For the unique 'Matka Phod' Holi celebration, scheduled for March 5, organizers have been provided with specific guidelines to ensure discipline and safety during the event.

These proactive measures reflect the administration's commitment to a secure and joyous Holi for all residents, balancing festive spirit with robust public safety protocols.
