Major Blaze at Ghaziabad Police Station Engulfs Over 30 Vehicles
A significant fire erupted at the Loni police station in Ghaziabad on Saturday night, resulting in the complete destruction of more than thirty parked vehicles. The incident, which caused substantial property damage, fortunately resulted in no human casualties.
Transformer Wire Snap Ignites Ambulance, Spreads Rapidly
According to official reports from the fire department, the catastrophic blaze originated when a transformer wire snapped and made contact with one of the ambulances stationed at the adjoining community health centre. This initial ignition point quickly escalated, with flames rapidly spreading to other vehicles.
The fire consumed not only vehicles within the police station compound but also those parked externally along the roadside outside the boundary wall. These external vehicles were primarily those seized under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Swift Fire Department Response Controls Situation
Chief Fire Officer Rahul Pal detailed the emergency response, stating that the Tronica City fire station received the distress call approximately at 9:50 PM. Immediate action was taken, with a fire tender and a service unit dispatched to the scene without delay.
"The fire had engulfed vehicles both inside the police station compound and those kept on the roadside outside the boundary wall," CFO Pal explained. "Our fire service unit promptly laid out hose pipes and initiated water pumping operations to combat the flames."
Recognizing the scale and intensity of the fire, the department reinforced its efforts by summoning additional resources. Two more fire tenders were called from the Tronica City fire station, and an additional unit was deployed from the Sahibabad fire station to assist in the firefighting operation.
Comprehensive Damage Assessment Reveals Extent
CFO Pal provided a detailed breakdown of the vehicles destroyed in the inferno. The fire initially impacted five ambulances that had been declared unfit for service and were parked at the community health centre.
From there, the blaze extended to the seized vehicles, which included:
- One mini bus
- Two DCM trucks
- Two tractors
- Four auto-rickshaws
- Twenty-two cars
Through concerted efforts, the fire was successfully extinguished by around 10:50 PM, approximately one hour after the initial response.
Separate Residential Fire Incident in Bhopura
In an unrelated incident on Sunday afternoon, a fire broke out in a residential house located in Gagan Vihar, Bhopura. The fire department was alerted and dispatched a fire tender promptly.
The blaze originated on the second floor of the house. However, access challenges emerged as the fire tender could not navigate the narrow lane leading to the property. Firefighters adapted by utilizing water drawn from a nearby submersible pump to eventually extinguish the flames.
Subsequent examination determined that an electrical short circuit was the cause of this residential fire. Fortunately, the house owner, Sumit Kumar, evacuated safely with his family at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported in this event either.
These consecutive fire incidents highlight ongoing concerns regarding electrical safety and emergency access in urban areas, prompting calls for increased preventive measures and infrastructure improvements.
