According to GRP officials, Priyanka Devi, the mother, was reportedly upset with her husband's drinking habits and had left her home in Aligarh's Gabhana area with her daughter Twinkle. She was traveling to her maternal place in Banda. While waiting for her train on platform 7, Priyanka made a sudden and desperate decision to jump in front of an approaching train.
Twinkle's immediate reaction was crucial. She tightly held on to her mother and began shouting for help, alerting nearby passengers and railway staff. Her loud cries and quick actions prevented what could have been a tragic outcome.
Timely Intervention by Railway Police
GRP inspector-in-charge Sandeep Tomar provided details of the rescue operation. "After Twinkle alerted us, the woman was pulled away from the tracks by sub-inspector Lakshmi Singh and other GRP personnel," Tomar stated. He emphasized that Twinkle's bravery and presence of mind were instrumental in saving her mother's life.
A preliminary inquiry revealed disturbing background details. Priyanka's husband works at a petrol pump in Gurgaon and allegedly beats her regularly under the influence of alcohol. This ongoing domestic violence had left Priyanka mentally distressed and pushed her toward the extreme step.
