Coimbatore: A tragic incident has come to light as a nine-year-old girl, who went missing on Thursday evening, was discovered dead on the banks of a lake at Kannampalayam near Sulur in the city on Friday evening.
Sequence of Events
The young girl had visited a local grocery store near her residence in Sulur on Thursday evening but failed to return home. Her parents searched the neighborhood extensively but could not find her. Upon inquiring at the store, they learned that an unidentified young man had picked her up on a two-wheeler.
Realizing that their daughter had been kidnapped, the parents filed a formal complaint with the Sulur Police on Thursday night. The police immediately registered a case and launched a search operation.
Discovery of the Body
On Friday evening, the Sulur police received information about a young girl's body lying on the banks of Kannampalayam lake. A police team rushed to the spot, recovered the body, and identified it as that of the missing nine-year-old.
The body was subsequently sent to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Coimbatore district superintendent of police (SP) Allatipalli Pavankumar Reddy visited the crime scene and instructed officials to expedite the investigation.
Investigation Underway
Police are currently analyzing CCTV footage from the locality to identify the culprits and the vehicle used in the abduction. The community is in shock, and authorities are working tirelessly to bring the perpetrators to justice.
This heartbreaking incident has raised concerns about child safety in the region. The police have urged anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
