13-Year-Old Girl Raped by Security Guard at Pantnagar University Campus
In a shocking incident in Rudrapur, a 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 28-year-old security guard at an abandoned quarters on the campus of Govind Ballabh Pant University in Pantnagar, Udham Singh Nagar district. The accused, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, lured the survivor, a Class 5 student, to the deserted government residence on Friday evening.
Police Action and Arrest
Pantnagar SHO Nandan Singh Rawat confirmed that the accused was arrested from a relative's house in Pantnagar on Saturday. University staff noticed suspicious activity and promptly alerted the security team, which then informed the police. The survivor was rescued, while the accused initially fled the scene.
Legal Proceedings and Medical Examination
Following a complaint by the girl's family, Pantnagar police registered an FIR under BNS sections 65 (punishment for rape), 351(3) (criminal intimidation), and 127 (wrongful confinement), along with sections 3 and 4 of the Pocso Act. The survivor underwent a medical examination, and her statement was recorded before a magistrate to ensure proper legal documentation.
