Goa Police Personnel Transferred After Viral Video of Cash Collection at Check Post
Goa Police Transferred Over Viral Video of Cash Collection

Margao: Five police personnel, including a Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) and a head constable, have been transferred to the reserve line following the circulation of a viral video on social media. The footage allegedly shows them collecting money from vehicle drivers at the Mollem check post without issuing challans.

Disciplinary Action Initiated

The disciplinary action has been taken against one PSI, one head constable, and three constables. This move comes after a preliminary inquiry was ordered by then South Goa Superintendent of Police Shekhar Prabhudesai on June 14, immediately after the video surfaced online and spread rapidly.

Investigation Ordered

Prabhudesai had directed Ponda Deputy Superintendent of Police Shivram Vaingankar to investigate the matter and submit a report within two days. At that time, the SP stated that strict action would be taken if the allegations were proven true. The transfer to the reserve line indicates that the inquiry found prima facie merit in the complaint.
