Goa Sex Scandal: Three New Survivors Come Forward, Crime Branch Identifies Five Victims

In a significant development in the alleged Curchorem sex scandal case, three new survivors have come forward before the crime branch of Goa police to narrate their experiences. This brings the total number of identified survivors to five, marking a crucial expansion in the investigation that has sent shockwaves through the community.

Expanding Investigation and Evidence Collection

The crime branch team conducted a detailed panchanama at the residence of the accused, 20-year-old Soham Naik from Madhegal, Cacora, collecting substantial evidence. A senior police officer revealed that the accused's modus operandi involved befriending the survivors before taking advantage of them. The case, initially investigated by local police, was transferred to the crime branch on Tuesday due to its sensitivity and the need for confidentiality regarding the survivors.

Director General of Police Alok Kumar emphasized on Thursday that a "fair and prompt" investigation will be conducted, assuring the public that there should be no doubt about the process. He stated that the transfer to the crime branch was made considering the focus of investigation and the need to protect survivor confidentiality.

Arrests and Public Outcry

Soham Naik, whose father Sushant Naik serves as a councillor of the Curchorem Cacora Municipal Council, was arrested following substantial public uproar. Locals gathered outside the police station on Sunday evening, demanding immediate action against the accused. The arrest came after allegations surfaced that Naik sexually exploited several minor victims, recorded obscene videos, and circulated them on the internet.

Police have registered three first information reports against Naik at Cacora police station. The investigation has revealed that both the accused and the survivors were minors at the time of the incidents, adding another layer of complexity to the case.

Ongoing Investigation and Future Developments

Two separate police inspectors are currently investigating the case, with statements being recorded from survivors and witnesses. The crime branch has already recorded statements from three survivors and is in the process of recording statements from two more identified victims.

Police are actively collecting electronic evidence in the case and working to identify whether any additional victims were targeted. When asked about potential further arrests, DGP Kumar indicated that this is part of the ongoing investigation, and if major developments emerge, there could be possibilities for additional arrests.

The case continues to develop as authorities work to ensure justice for the survivors while maintaining the sensitivity and confidentiality required for such investigations.
