In a brazen theft incident, unknown thieves targeted a house within a defence establishment in Khadki, Pune, making off with gold jewellery valued at approximately Rs 4.40 lakh on Sunday evening. The incident has raised concerns about security in residential areas of defence installations.

Complaint Lodged by Air Force Official

A 43-year-old Air Force official reported the theft to the Dapodi police on Monday, detailing the events that unfolded. According to the complaint, the official had stepped out to watch a movie on Sunday evening, leaving his home unattended.

Upon returning, he discovered that the locks on his house door had been forcibly broken. A subsequent check revealed that gold jewellery worth Rs 4.40 lakh was missing from his cupboard, indicating a targeted theft.

Police Investigation and Legal Action

Senior Inspector Mahadev Koli of the Dapodi police confirmed the details of the case, stating that the complainant found the broken locks and stolen items upon his return. The police have taken swift action by registering a formal case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The case has been filed under sections 305, which pertains to theft in a dwelling house, and 331, which addresses house trespass. These legal provisions are aimed at ensuring thorough investigation and potential prosecution of the perpetrators.
