Gorakhpur Police Trace Eloped Minor Boy and His Aunt After Family Complaint
In a startling incident from Gorakhpur, a 15-year-old class 9 student allegedly eloped with his 35-year-old aunt on January 26, leading to a swift police investigation. The boy's uncle, who is employed outside the state, had left his wife residing with the boy's family, setting the stage for this unusual case.
Police Action and Investigation Details
The duo went missing from their home in the Jungle Kaudia area, prompting the family to lodge a missing complaint at the Pipiganj police station. Police immediately sprang into action, utilizing surveillance inputs and reviewing CCTV footage to track their movements. Additionally, relatives were alerted across various districts to aid in the search efforts.
Within city limits, police successfully traced and detained the pair. Both were brought to the Pipiganj police station on Monday, where their family members were also summoned for further proceedings.
Revelations During Police Questioning
During questioning, the minor boy revealed to police that he intended to marry his aunt, and she similarly expressed her desire to stay with him. Police sources indicated that the two were allegedly making preparations for marriage at the time they were located, highlighting the seriousness of their intentions.
Family Intervention and Resolution
A meeting involving family elders and police officials was convened, lasting nearly an hour. Citing concerns over social stigma, the families of both the boy and the woman chose to resolve the matter amicably without pursuing legal action. After thorough counselling sessions, both individuals were taken back by their respective families.
Pipiganj SHO Arun Kumar Singh confirmed that both sides explicitly stated they did not wish for any legal proceedings, leading to the closure of the case. This resolution underscores the community's preference for handling such sensitive issues through familial and social mechanisms rather than judicial routes.
