Khargone: Security Guard Admits to Self-Inflicting Over 100 Wounds
A security guard who alleged he was brutally assaulted by his in-laws has been found to have inflicted more than 100 wounds on himself, according to police. Karahi police station in-charge Rajendra Ingle informed TOI on Saturday evening that an investigation into the claim by Govardhan Jogi revealed the injuries were self-inflicted.
Jogi had reported that on May 8, when he visited his in-laws' house to bring back his pregnant wife and three-year-old daughter, he was held hostage, stripped naked, and attacked with sharp-edged weapons, resulting in over 100 injuries across his body. However, after examining the circumstances and recording statements, investigators concluded that the injuries were not caused by an external attack.
Police stated that Jogi had gone to his in-laws' residence to take his wife and daughter home, but the family refused to let them accompany him because he was heavily intoxicated. They expressed concerns for the safety of his pregnant wife, young daughter, and unborn child. Later, Jogi returned to the house after consuming more alcohol and allegedly created a disturbance. During the altercation, he assaulted his wife, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law. The situation escalated when the sister-in-law threatened to lodge a molestation complaint against him.
“During questioning, Jogi admitted that he panicked after the threat and fabricated the entire story,” Ingle said. Police added that a case of assault had already been registered against Jogi based on complaints filed by his wife and sister-in-law on May 11. “So, the police isn’t going to take action against him for fabricating and misleading in this case,” the police station in-charge concluded.
