Gujarat Family Targeted in Highway Robbery and Assault Near Badnawar

A shocking incident of robbery and assault unfolded on the Indore-Ahmedabad highway near Badnawar on Saturday night, leaving a Gujarat-based family traumatized and police scrambling to apprehend the culprits. According to official reports, a family of four from Ahmedabad fell victim to a coordinated attack that resulted in the theft of three valuable gold chains and physical manhandling.

Details of the Highway Incident

The victims, identified as Suresh, 54, his wife, son, and daughter-in-law, were traveling from Jhabua to Ahmedabad when their journey took a terrifying turn. As per the complaint filed by Suresh with the Badnawar police, the incident occurred near the Sanwariya temple on the Petlawad-Badnawar road. A motorcycle rider, later identified as Anshu Dubey, was riding ahead of their car when he abruptly applied brakes, causing a minor collision that damaged one of the car's rear indicators.

When the family exited their vehicle to assess the damage, the situation escalated rapidly. Four additional individuals appeared at the scene, joining the biker to form a group of five assailants. They proceeded to physically assault Suresh and his family members before snatching three gold chains from them and fleeing the location.

Police Response and Investigation

Sub-inspector Shankarlal Makwana of the Badnawar police station confirmed the details of the case, stating that a formal complaint was lodged by Suresh, a resident of the Naroda area in Ahmedabad. "The family reported being looted and manhandled while on their way home," Makwana told reporters. "We have registered a case based on their statement and are actively investigating."

Law enforcement officials have successfully identified the primary accused, Anshu Dubey, using the registration number of the two-wheeler involved in the initial collision. A case has been officially booked against Dubey, but he remains at large as the police continue their search operations. Authorities are also working to identify and locate the four other individuals who participated in the assault and robbery.

Broader Implications and Safety Concerns

This incident highlights growing concerns about highway safety and criminal activities on major roadways connecting states. The brazen nature of the attack, involving a staged collision followed by a group assault, suggests a premeditated strategy targeting travelers. Local residents and frequent commuters on the Indore-Ahmedabad route have expressed alarm, calling for increased police patrols and surveillance in the area.

Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities immediately. They assure that efforts are underway to apprehend all individuals involved and recover the stolen jewelry.
