Police in central Gujarat conducted a significant crackdown on illegal liquor transport over the weekend. They seized Indian-Made Foreign Liquor valued at more than Rs 2 crore in a series of coordinated operations. The actions targeted trucks and industrial estates across multiple locations.

Highway Interception Leads to Largest Haul

Mahisagar police made the biggest single seizure on the Indore-Ahmedabad highway. Acting on specific intelligence, officers stopped a truck near a hotel in Balasinor. They discovered a large quantity of IMFL inside the vehicle. The liquor alone was worth Rs 97.4 lakh. When authorities added the value of the truck and other confiscated items, the total seizure reached Rs 1.12 crore.

Vadodara City Operation Uncovers Hidden Stock

In Vadodara city, Chhani police carried out routine inspections at industrial estates in the Padamla area. During these checks, they found a substantial stock of IMFL that had just been unloaded from a truck. The seized liquor in this instance was valued at Rs 71.68 lakh.

Halol GIDC Bust During Transfer Operation

Meanwhile, the local crime branch of Panchmahal police intercepted another illegal consignment in Halol GIDC. Officers caught the liquor while it was being moved from a large truck into smaller vehicles. This operation led to the recovery of IMFL worth Rs 34.13 lakh. Police also seized the main truck and two light commercial vehicles used in the transfer process.

Arrests and Ongoing Investigation

Authorities arrested three individuals in connection with these three separate seizures. Police are now actively investigating the cases to identify and apprehend the suppliers who provided the liquor and the customers who placed the orders. The crackdown demonstrates a continued effort to curb illegal alcohol trade in the region.
