In a significant breakthrough, the Gurdaspur police have successfully solved a high-profile robbery case targeting a jeweller's residence, leading to the arrest of four accused individuals. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Aditya announced the developments on Thursday, highlighting the effective use of human intelligence and technical inputs that enabled the police team to track down and apprehend the suspects.
Details of the Robbery and Investigation
The incident occurred on March 5, when unidentified persons forcibly entered the home of a jeweller in the city area. After looting gold, silver, cash, and a vehicle, the perpetrators fled the scene. In response, a case was promptly registered at Police Station City Gurdaspur, and a special investigation team was formed to spearhead the inquiry and bring the culprits to justice.
Recovery of Looted Property
Following the arrests, police recovered a substantial portion of the stolen property, including:
- ₹32 lakh in cash
- Approximately 1.3 kg of gold and silver jewellery
- The robbed Tata Harrier car
This recovery marks a critical step in mitigating the losses suffered by the victim and underscores the police's commitment to restoring stolen assets.
Identities of the Arrested Accused
The four individuals arrested in connection with the robbery have been identified as:
- Rajbir Singh, resident of Batala
- Balwinder Singh, resident of Batala
- Simarjit Singh, resident of Bhagwanpura Colony
- Kulbir Singh, resident of Batala
