Gurdwara Theft Suspect Arrested in Mohali, Breaks Leg

Mohali police on Friday arrested a man wanted for a targeted theft at a gurdwara in Aganpur village. The suspect sustained a fractured leg after attempting to break away from officers immediately after being taken into custody near Lalru.

Incident Details

The arrest stems from a March 1 incident where a gang of thieves targeted the village place of worship. Local security footage captured three suspects arriving on a motorcycle before two of them entered the sacred premises with their heads uncovered and wearing shoes, violating religious protocol, to steal the temple's golak (donation box).

Arrest and Escape Attempt

Using a combination of technical tracking and local intelligence, the Lalru Station House Officer and his team ambushed and detained Gurwinder Singh, a resident of Jallalpur village. During processing, Singh made a sudden dash for freedom but tripped and broke his leg, cutting his escape attempt short.
