FSSAI Issues Notices to Nestlé, KFC, and Open Secret Over Food Safety Concerns
FSSAI Notices to Nestlé, KFC, and Open Secret

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued notices to three major brands following complaints about food safety. The regulatory body took action after concerns were raised on social media regarding Nestlé India's Maggi noodles, a KFC outlet in Andhra Pradesh, and Open Secret's product sold through Flipkart.

Notices Issued to Nestlé for Maggi

FSSAI issued a notice to Nestlé India after allegations that insects or larvae were found inside a packet of Maggi noodles. The authority has requested a detailed Action Taken Report (ATR), including vendor details, internal quality-check logs for the batch in question, corrective measures to remove affected products from the supply chain, and steps to prevent recurrence.

KFC Outlet Under Scrutiny

In a separate case, FSSAI issued a notice to a KFC outlet located at MVR Mall in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, following allegations of unhygienic conditions. The regulator has sought details of deficiencies related to hygiene, sanitation, food handling, storage, waste management, pest control, and employee hygiene, along with documentary evidence of corrective and preventive measures.

Open Secret Product Found with Insects

The third notice was issued to Open Secret regarding its 'Un-junked Dates' product, delivered through Flipkart Minutes, which allegedly contained insects. FSSAI has sought internal quality-control records, details of corrective actions taken to remove the product from the supply chain, and measures to prevent similar incidents.

In response to the notice, the KFC operator stated that it will conduct an investigation into the allegations and make a representation to FSSAI. The other companies have not yet publicly commented.
