In a shocking case of alleged honour killing, Gurgaon Police have arrested two men, including the victim's own brother, for the brutal murder of a 19-year-old woman. The crime was committed to stop her from marrying a man of her choice against her family's wishes.
The Motive: Fear of Disgrace
The primary accused, the victim's 28-year-old brother from Etah, Uttar Pradesh, feared that his sister's decision would bring disgrace to the family in society. He confided in his 30-year-old friend from Agra, and together they hatched a plan to eliminate her. The young woman had left her native village for Gurgaon on December 1, seeking independence.
A Brutal and Deceptive Trap
The police detailed a chilling sequence of events. On December 9, the brother met his sister in Gurgaon and tried to force her to return home, but she refused. The very next day, the brother's friend lured her with a false promise. He told her he would help arrange her wedding with her partner. Trusting him, she accompanied him on his motorcycle from Rampura Chowk.
He took her to an abandoned brick-and-tin structure near Gwalior village on the Panchgaon-Pada Road. There, he first sexually assaulted the victim and then strangled her to death using her own chunni (scarf). After the murder, he called the victim's brother to the spot, and the duo dumped her body inside the derelict shack.
Discovery of the Body and Investigation
The body was discovered on December 13 after an alert passerby informed the police. The victim had clear strangulation marks on her neck. A murder case was immediately registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Manesar police station.
A joint investigative team, led by Station House Officer Inspector Satender Kumar and Manesar Crime Branch head Inspector Manoj Kumar, cracked the case. They identified the victim and successfully traced the movements of the accused, leading to their arrest on Saturday, December 20.
Police officials stated that the accused will be produced in court to seek police custody for further questioning and recovery of evidence. The investigation into the gruesome murder is ongoing.
