Burglary in Gurgaon: Thief Escapes with Cash, Rado Watch, and Mobile Phone
In a startling incident in Gurgaon, an unidentified burglar broke into a residential property in Sector 45 during the early hours of March 13, making off with a significant haul of valuables. The theft included cash, a mobile phone, a Rado watch, and other personal items, leaving the homeowner shaken and authorities on high alert.
Details of the Sector 45 Burglary
According to an FIR registered at the Sector 40 police station, the complainant, Sunil Kumar Sharma, a retired government officer, reported that he was asleep when he heard a suspicious noise around 3 AM. Upon waking, he discovered his room door open and the curtains drawn aside. Sharma immediately spotted a man jumping off the balcony and fleeing the scene.
Sharma attempted to chase the suspect, but the burglar managed to escape through a vacant plot adjacent to the house. The police have confirmed that the suspect's movements were captured on a neighbor's CCTV camera, providing crucial evidence for the investigation.
The stolen items from Sharma's residence include a Redmi 9 Pro mobile phone, a wallet containing Rs 2,200, a Rado watch, a metro card, bank cards, and an Aadhaar card. The accused remains at large and unidentified, prompting a thorough probe by local law enforcement.
Police Response and Legal Action
Police officials have registered a case under Section 305 (theft in a dwelling house) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Sector 40 police station. A police official stated, "We have registered the case and will soon trace the accused." The investigation is currently focused on analyzing the CCTV footage and gathering other evidence from the crime scene to identify and apprehend the perpetrator.
Separate Theft Incident in Sushant Lok Phase-1
In a related development, another theft occurred in Gurgaon's Sushant Lok Phase-1, where gold jewellery weighing approximately 8–9 tolas and Rs 1 lakh in cash were stolen from a house. The incident came to light on the night of February 7 when the complainant, Pooja Yadav, returned home around 10:30 PM after walking her dog.
Yadav found a gold locket on her bed, which had originally been stored inside a bed storage box. Upon further inspection, she discovered that two gold chains, a gold coin, and 8–10 pairs of gold earrings were missing from a jewellery bag. Additionally, Rs 1 lakh was stolen from a locked wooden almirah, while the remaining cash was left untouched.
Suspicion has fallen on domestic help, as the locker keys were hidden inside the same compartment, suggesting possible insider involvement. Two domestic workers, a cook and a cleaner from Kanhai village, had regular access to the residence. Police have registered a case at the Sushant Lok police station, and an investigation is underway to determine the culprits.
