Violent Assault in Gurgaon Residential Area Over Traffic Dispute
In a shocking incident highlighting urban road rage, a caretaker and his relative were allegedly assaulted with helmets and sticks by a group of unidentified men in Gurgaon's Sector 42. The violence erupted after the victims requested the assailants to slow down their vehicles in a residential lane.
Incident Details and Police Complaint
The assault occurred around 4:30 PM on March 4 in the Sushant Lok 1 area. Pramod Kumar, a 32-year-old caretaker originally from Uttarakhand, filed a formal complaint at the Sushant Lok 1 police station the following day. Based on his statement, authorities registered a case on March 6 under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Kumar reported that the accused arrived in two vehicles: a white Scorpio and a blue-grey car. He provided video evidence of the incident to investigating officers, who are currently examining both CCTV footage and the submitted recording.
Sequence of Events Leading to Violence
According to the complaint, Kumar was working on the ground floor of a residential building when several men carrying sticks arrived in the two cars. His relative, Nabil Lal, who resides nearby in Sushant Lok 1, approached the vehicles and politely asked the occupants to drive more slowly through the narrow residential lane.
"Following this simple request, the men turned their car around, exited their vehicles, and immediately began assaulting Lal with helmets," Kumar alleged in his police statement. When Kumar attempted to intervene and protect his relative, the attackers turned their aggression toward him as well.
Family Threatened and Property Trespassed
The situation escalated dangerously as the assailants pushed Kumar's wife, sister, and young children aside before forcibly entering the family home. During the intrusion, the group threatened to "harm" the entire family and reportedly misbehaved with a woman living on the second floor of the building.
Medical attention was required for Lal, who was transported to a government hospital in Sector 10. Doctors conducted a thorough medical examination and issued a medico-legal report documenting his injuries.
Legal Action and Investigation Status
Police have registered the case under several sections of the BNS, including:
- Section 191(2) - Rioting
- Section 190 - Unlawful assembly
- Section 115(2) - Voluntary causing hurt
- Section 351(2) - Criminal intimidation
- Section 333 - House trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint
An investigating officer confirmed, "We are actively checking all available CCTV footage and the video evidence provided by the complainant. The investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend the accused individuals."
This incident underscores growing concerns about road safety and violence in residential neighborhoods, where minor traffic disagreements can escalate into serious criminal assaults. The case continues to develop as police pursue leads to identify the perpetrators.
