Gurgaon Fortuner Crash Leaves Six IT Employees Injured in Early Morning Accident
In a shocking incident that has raised serious concerns about road safety, six individuals sustained injuries when a Toyota Fortuner, allegedly driven at high speed and on the wrong side of the road, collided with an office transport vehicle carrying employees of an IT firm in Gurgaon. The accident occurred on the busy Golf Course Road in Sector 53 during the early hours of Wednesday, around 1:10 AM.
Details of the Collision and Injured Parties
The victims of this unfortunate incident have been identified as Mutahir Husain, Ankita Sen Gupta, Shreya Kumari, Shanu Sharma, Anshika Kumari, and Vinod Kumar. Vinod Kumar served as the driver of the office cab, a Toyota Rumion, which was transporting employees of the multinational professional services firm Genpact at the time of the crash.
According to police reports and eyewitness accounts, the Toyota Rumion was traveling from Sector 69 to DLF Phase 3 after picking up employees from their workplace. The Fortuner, bearing registration number RJ18UF0011, reportedly came from the Saraswati Kunj side and struck the transport vehicle from the left with significant force.
Dash Cam Footage Reveals Terrifying Sequence
A seven-second dash cam recording from the office cab captured the terrifying moments leading up to the collision. The footage shows the Fortuner emerging from a lane, jumping over a speed breaker, crashing over a divider, and finally ramming into the Toyota Rumion. This visual evidence has become crucial for investigators attempting to reconstruct the events.
"The impact was so severe that it caused extensive damage to the car and left all occupants injured," noted one official familiar with the investigation.
Police Response and Legal Action
Law enforcement authorities responded promptly after receiving information about the injured being admitted to Paras Hospital in Sector 43. Police collected medico-legal records from the hospital and initiated an investigation into the matter.
Driver Vinod Kumar submitted a written complaint at the hospital, leading to the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) at the Sector 53 police station. The FIR has been filed under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including:
- Section 281 for rash driving
- Section 125(a) for acts endangering life
- Section 324(4) for mischief
A senior police officer stated, "An officer inspected the accident site and initiated efforts to trace the Fortuner and identify its occupants." Authorities are currently scanning CCTV footage from Golf Course Road and surrounding areas to establish the complete sequence of events and determine responsibility for the crash.
Aftermath and Fleeing Occupants
In his complaint, Vinod Kumar alleged that the Fortuner was being driven negligently and on the wrong carriageway. He further reported that after the collision, the occupants of the SUV locked their vehicle and fled the scene.
"The loud sound of the crash drew local residents and passers-by to the scene, who helped shift the injured to the hospital," Kumar recounted, highlighting the community response to the emergency.
Medical Condition of Victims
Medical authorities reported that two of the injured individuals—Mutahir Husain and Shreya Kumari—were declared unfit to record statements due to the nature and severity of their injuries. The remaining four victims received treatment and were subsequently discharged from the hospital.
This incident has once again brought attention to the critical issue of road safety in Gurgaon, particularly concerning speeding vehicles and wrong-side driving on major thoroughfares.
