Gurgaon fruit trader stabbed to death over parking dispute
A 55-year-old fruit trader was stabbed to death after an altercation over parking turned violent in the Shivaji Nagar area of Gurgaon on Sunday morning. The incident took place at Khandsa Mandi around 5:45 am in the presence of shopkeepers and workers. Bystanders rushed Bharat Bhushan to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead during treatment. Doctors told police that excessive blood loss caused the death.
Police register murder case
Police said a murder case was registered at Shivaji Nagar police station following a complaint lodged by Tarachand, the elder brother of the deceased. Raids are underway after the FIR was registered against two individuals: Jai Bhagwan, a fruit commission agent operating from a neighbouring shop who fled after the attack, and Rahul, whose shop was on rent and where Bharat's vehicle was unloading goods.
Video evidence surfaces
Investigators are examining a nearly two-minute-long video that has surfaced. In the footage, two men can be seen arguing near a fruit-laden truck as several traders and labourers stand around them. The altercation soon turned physical before Jai allegedly pulled out an awl and attacked Bharat repeatedly. Several people can also be seen attempting to separate them during the scuffle.
Eyewitness account
According to eyewitnesses, Bharat arrived at the mandi on Sunday morning and was parking his truck in the designated space near his shop. During this time, the shopkeeper objected to the positioning of the vehicle and asked him to move it aside. The driver moved the vehicle. However, someone from the shop in which the truck was being unloaded called Jai, said Tarachand. As the confrontation escalated, nearby commission agents and workers gathered at the spot. Jai came and entered into a verbal altercation with Tarachand when Bharat got involved. Police said Jai allegedly picked a sharp-edged object from the shop and stabbed him in the stomach and chest areas. The victim collapsed immediately.
Family alleges dispute over boxes
The family alleged that the dispute started after Bharat asked Jai to remove pomegranate boxes lying in the parking area where the truck was being parked. Ashu, their youngest brother, said: Bhushan was trying to park his vehicle in our designated space. However, there was an issue with space. After the vehicle was parked, we asked them to remove the boxes as they were lying in our area. Jai first argued with our elder brother and then had an altercation with Bhushan, following which he stabbed him. A forensic team and police officials later inspected the crime scene and collected evidence from the mandi premises. The body was sent for an autopsy, an officer said.
Woman's body found in locked bathroom
The decomposed body of a 22-year-old woman, who was missing for the past three days, was recovered from a locked bathroom of a private building on Kasan Khoh Road in the Manesar area on Sunday. According to sources, she had a shot wound and her mouth was stuffed with a cloth. Neighbours alerted authorities after noticing a foul smell. When the door was opened, Madhu's body was found inside in a severely decomposed state, triggering panic in the locality. Police are questioning the deceased woman's husband and her in-laws. A senior police officer said all angles, including possible foul play, are being examined.
Background of the victim
Madhu, a native of Hansaka village in Rewari district, married a Manesar resident around a year ago and was living with her husband since then. Family members told police that Madhu went missing under suspicious circumstances on May 21, and efforts were being made to trace her. Soon after receiving information about the body, teams from Manesar police station and the forensic science laboratory reached the spot and began an investigation. Police said the condition of the body indicated that the death took place several days earlier.
Police investigation
An officer said: It is suspected that the woman was murdered and the body was hidden inside the bathroom to conceal the crime. The area was inspected by forensic experts and evidence was collected from the scene. Police took possession of the body and sent it to the Civil Hospital for an autopsy. Officials said the exact cause and timing of death would be determined after the autopsy report is received.
