GURGAON: In a shocking and tragic incident, a 3.5-year-old girl was raped and strangled to death after being lured away from her neighborhood in the area under the jurisdiction of the Sector 37 police station on Thursday. The crime has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting grave concerns over child safety.

Police authorities reported that at approximately 12:20 AM on February 20, the Sector 37 police station received information about the child going missing. The family later filed a formal complaint, alleging that a neighbor had enticed and taken their daughter away.

Acting swiftly on the complaint, the Sector 37 police team apprehended the suspect the same night and conducted an interrogation. During the questioning, the man revealed that he works at a scrap factory in Sector 37 and admitted to taking the child to a secluded location on the late evening of February 19. There, he raped her and then strangled her to death in an attempt to destroy evidence, as stated by Sandeep Turan, the police spokesperson.

Legal Proceedings and Accused Identification

Based on the father's complaint, a case has been registered under relevant sections at the Police Station Sector-37 in Gurgaon. The accused has been arrested and identified as Shivnath, aged 25, a native of Bihar.
