The city of Gurgaon was shaken by two separate fatal hit-and-run accidents that occurred within hours of each other late on Thursday night and early Friday morning. Both incidents involved unidentified vehicles that fled the scenes, leaving police to investigate the tragic deaths of two young men.
First Victim: Amit Kumar's Fatal Journey Home
The first tragedy unfolded on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway near Bilaspur. Amit Kumar, a 37-year-old resident of Rajasthan who worked for a private company in Manesar, was returning home on his Hero Splendor motorcycle when disaster struck. According to police reports, an unidentified vehicle collided with his motorcycle near Murali Wala Dhaba on NH-8 around midnight on Friday.
The impact was devastating - Kumar was thrown onto the road and sustained fatal injuries. His younger brother, Hitesh Kumar, filed a formal complaint with authorities. Police received information about the crash shortly after midnight and responded immediately to the scene.
Emergency services transported Kumar to General Hospital, where medical professionals declared him dead upon arrival. Following a mandatory autopsy procedure, his body was released to grieving family members for final rites.
Investigating officer Rajesh stated, "We are deploying all available resources, including technical analysis and local intelligence networks, to identify and locate the vehicle responsible for this tragic incident." Authorities have registered a case under sections 281 and 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rash driving and causing death by negligence.
Second Tragedy: Arpit Singh's Fatal Evening Walk
In a separate but equally tragic incident, 32-year-old Arpit Singh lost his life during what should have been a routine evening walk in Palam Vihar. Singh, originally from Agra, worked with a private company and lived in the area as a tenant.
According to a complaint filed by his elder brother, Amit Singh, Arpit had stepped out for a walk after dinner around 12:15 AM on April 16. While walking from Krishna Chowk toward the C-2 gate in Palam Vihar, an unidentified vehicle struck him from behind with tremendous force.
The collision proved immediately fatal - the impact flung Singh to the roadside where he sustained catastrophic injuries. A concerned passerby discovered the victim and transported him to Civil Hospital in Sector 10, where doctors confirmed he had already succumbed to his injuries.
His body was placed in the hospital mortuary, and his brother formally identified him on Friday. Police have initiated another case under sections 281 and 106 of the BNS against an unknown driver. An investigating officer confirmed that "comprehensive efforts are underway to identify both the vehicle and driver involved in this heartbreaking incident."
