Gurgaon Hit-and-Run Incidents Claim Two Lives, Leave One Critically Injured
In a tragic series of events, two individuals lost their lives, and one woman was left critically injured in separate hit-and-run incidents across Gurgaon, as confirmed by police on Wednesday. The accidents occurred in Manesar and Sohna, highlighting ongoing road safety concerns in the region.
First Incident: Motorcyclist Killed on Delhi-Jaipur Highway
In the first case, Ashish, a 28-year-old resident of Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh, was killed early Tuesday morning. He was riding his Apache motorcycle on the Delhi-Jaipur highway near the NSG campus in Manesar when an unidentified speeding vehicle struck him and fled the scene. Ashish, who worked at a private company in Bawal and lived near Bawal Chowk in Rewari, had traveled to Gurgaon on Sunday to deliver goods to his brother and was returning at the time of the accident.
According to a complaint filed by his brother Himanshu, the incident came to light around 7:30 AM after the family was notified. Police promptly shifted the body to Civil Hospital, Sector 10A, for a postmortem examination. Authorities have registered a case under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the unidentified driver, with investigations ongoing to trace the vehicle.
Second Incident: Class 12 Student Dies in Sohna
In a separate tragedy, Vineet, a 17-year-old Class 12 student and resident of Raisina village in Sohna, was killed late Tuesday evening. He was on his way to Sohna Dhani when his motorcycle was hit by an unknown vehicle. The impact threw him into a roadside drain, where locals discovered him and rushed him to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, he was declared dead on arrival.
Police have registered a case in this matter and are actively examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the vehicle involved. The community has been left in shock by the loss of the young student, with authorities urging witnesses to come forward with any information.
Third Incident: Woman Critically Injured on Expressway
In a third hit-and-run incident, Megha Gautam, a resident of Ghaziabad, sustained critical injuries after the bike taxi she was traveling on was struck by a speeding vehicle. The accident occurred on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Badshahpur. Megha was returning to Noida after visiting her sister in Gurgaon when the collision happened. The bike taxi rider, Kishan, also suffered injuries in the crash.
Police teams are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the stretch to identify the vehicle and locate the driver. An officer stated that further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the accident and ensure justice for the victims.
