Gurgaon Husband Arrested for Alleged Dowry Death via Poisonous Injection
In a tragic incident in Gurgaon, a 26-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly administering a poisonous injection to his wife, resulting in her death after months of reported dowry harassment. The case has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting ongoing issues of domestic violence and dowry-related crimes.
Details of the Arrest and Incident
The accused, identified as Arun Sharma, was taken into custody on Friday in Sector 89, following the death of his 23-year-old wife, Kajal. The incident unfolded in Garhi Harsaru, where Kajal was found dead at her residence. A dowry death case has been officially registered against Sharma under Section 80(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Sector 10A police station.
According to the complaint filed by Kajal's brother, Gurdeep, the couple both worked at a private hospital and married with their families' consent in November 2025. Kajal served as a nurse, while Arun was employed in the X-ray department. However, shortly after their marriage, Arun reportedly left his job, became addicted to drugs, and began harassing Kajal for dowry, along with subjecting her to repeated physical assaults.
Timeline of Events Leading to the Tragedy
The couple initially resided in a rented house in Basai but moved to Kajal's maternal home in Garhi Harsaru during the Holi festival. The situation escalated on the night of March 17, when Arun, allegedly under the influence of drugs, assaulted Kajal. The following morning, around 9:15 AM, he took her to a ground-floor room under the pretext of having a conversation.
Shortly thereafter, Kajal was discovered lying unconscious with blood oozing from her nose. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and later referred to Civil Hospital in Sector 10, where doctors declared her dead upon arrival. The family later found a syringe in the bathroom, which they allege Arun used to inject Kajal with a poisonous substance, directly causing her death.
Legal Proceedings and Police Investigation
Arun Sharma was produced before a local court on Saturday, which remanded him to three days of police custody for further interrogation. A police officer involved in the case stated, "The accused admitted to administering an injection to his wife on the day of the incident, which led to her death." The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to gather additional evidence and verify the details of the dowry harassment claims.
This case underscores the severe consequences of dowry-related violence and the urgent need for stricter enforcement of anti-dowry laws. The community and law enforcement agencies are being urged to remain vigilant and proactive in addressing such crimes to prevent future tragedies.
