Gurgaon Businessman Arrested for Biting Neighbor's Thumb in Violent Holi Altercation
In a shocking incident stemming from Holi celebrations, a 45-year-old man was arrested in Gurgaon for allegedly forcing his way into his neighbor's apartment and biting his thumb with such force that it resulted in severe injury. The violent altercation occurred in the Suncity township of Sector 54, highlighting tensions that escalated during the festive period.
Details of the Violent Assault
The complainant, identified as Inder, a resident of the fourth floor in the building, reported to police that the accused, Prateek Sapra, who lives on the first floor, assaulted him at his home on March 4. According to the FIR filed at Sector 53 police station, an argument initially broke out between the two during Holi celebrations earlier that day.
Around 4:22 PM, Inder was at home with his family and neighbors when Sapra called him and used abusive language during the phone conversation. Shortly after, Sapra arrived at Inder's flat. When the door was opened, he forced his way inside, continued to hurl abuses, and attempted to grab Inder by the collar.
The situation turned violent when Sapra allegedly bit Inder's right thumb with extreme force, dislodging the nail and crushing the bone. Witnesses reported that Sapra fled the scene upon seeing blood and hearing children crying in distress.
Medical Aftermath and Legal Action
Inder was immediately taken to a private hospital, where medical professionals confirmed the presence of bite marks and diagnosed a shattered bone in his thumb. Doctors advised that he undergo surgery to address the severe injury, as documented in the FIR.
The complaint further alleged that on March 5, Sapra's elder brother visited Inder's residence and confronted his wife while she was alone at home. Inder also claimed that his family began receiving threats from the accused following the incident.
Police stated that Inder submitted a written complaint on March 5 and provided supporting medical documents on March 10. Based on this evidence, a case was registered under sections 117(2) for voluntarily causing grievous hurt and 351(2) for criminal intimidation under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
