A 26-year-old man died after allegedly consuming poison near a petrol pump along the Dwarka Expressway late Wednesday night, police said.
Details of the Incident
The deceased, identified as Pradeep Mahlawat, a resident of Gadoli Kalan village, had previously worked at the same petrol pump before leaving his job approximately six months ago. Since then, he had been assisting his family with agricultural activities.
According to police officials, Mahlawat visited the petrol pump on Wednesday night and spent some time with his former colleagues. He parked his motorcycle there and informed them that he was going for a walk. Shortly afterward, he was found unconscious in a nearby field.
Communication with Family
Around midnight, Mahlawat reportedly called his father, who was unable to answer the phone initially. When his father returned the call a few minutes later, Mahlawat told him that he had consumed sulfa, a poisonous substance commonly used in agriculture, and was feeling unwell.
His family immediately rushed him to a nearby government hospital, where doctors referred him to a higher medical center due to his critical condition. He was later shifted to a private hospital, where he died during treatment on Thursday morning.
Police Investigation
Police stated that no foul play has emerged in the preliminary investigation. Proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) have been initiated.
An investigating officer said, “The post-mortem examination has been conducted, and statements of family members and friends are being recorded to ascertain the circumstances that led to the incident.”
Authorities are continuing their inquiry to determine the exact reasons behind the tragic act.
