Gurgaon Man Succumbs to Injuries After Truck Collision Near M3M Mall
A tragic road accident in Gurgaon has claimed the life of a 26-year-old man, identified as Sumit, a resident of Shikohpur village. The incident occurred late on March 30 near M3M Mall in Sector 77, when a truck allegedly rammed into his motorcycle from behind.
Details of the Fatal Crash
According to a complaint filed by Sumit's brother, Ravinder, the accident took place around 11 PM. Sumit was riding his motorcycle when a truck, reportedly being driven at high speed and in a rash manner, struck the bike from the rear. The impact was severe, throwing Sumit off his vehicle. The truck driver fled the scene immediately after the collision.
Bystanders at the location quickly responded, chasing the truck and intercepting it near Banwari Chowk. However, the driver managed to escape, abandoning the vehicle at the spot. Sumit was rushed to a private hospital in Manesar for initial treatment and later transferred to SGT Hospital in Budhera. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment, marking a devastating loss for his family.
Police Response and Investigation
Police authorities stated that they received information about the accident on March 30. Upon reaching the scene, they found neither the vehicle nor the injured person present. The following day, officers traced Sumit to the hospital in Manesar, where they collected medico-legal records. He was subsequently shifted to another hospital, but his condition rendered him unfit to provide a statement.
A formal case was registered at Kherki Daula police station on April 1 under sections 281 for rash driving and 125(b) for causing hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety. Following Sumit's death, Section 106 for causing death by negligence was added to the charges. Police are actively examining CCTV footage from the area to gather evidence and are making efforts to identify both the owner and the driver of the truck involved in the incident.
Allegations and Ongoing Probe
In his complaint, Ravinder raised serious concerns, alleging that the truck was not taken into custody by the police for several days after the accident. He further claimed that the vehicle's owner managed to remove it from the spot without intervention. These allegations highlight potential lapses in the initial handling of the case, adding to the family's distress.
The police have maintained that their investigation is ongoing, with a focus on tracking down the responsible parties. The community is urged to come forward with any additional information that could aid in the probe. This incident underscores the critical need for stricter enforcement of traffic laws and enhanced road safety measures in Gurgaon to prevent such tragedies in the future.
