Gurgaon Man Injured in Alleged Drunk Driving Crash, Accused Claims CRPF Immunity

A man from Gurgaon sustained serious injuries after a car, reportedly driven by an intoxicated individual, collided head-on with his motorcycle on CRPF Road near Kheda ki Dhani on the night of April 4. The incident has raised significant concerns over road safety and alleged misuse of authority.

Details of the Accident

The victim, identified as Manoj Adhana, a resident of Kadarpur village, was returning home around 9:30 PM when a Swift car traveling from the opposite direction struck his motorcycle. The forceful impact threw Adhana off his bike, leaving him injured on the roadway.

In his formal complaint, Adhana alleged that the driver was under the influence of alcohol and displayed arrogant behavior following the crash. He further claimed that the driver identified himself as a CRPF personnel and asserted that no legal action could be taken against him due to his position.

“He was working at the CRPF camp and said that he is in the CRPF police and nobody can do anything to him,” the complaint stated, highlighting the victim's distress over the alleged abuse of power.

Immediate Response and Medical Treatment

Passers-by and family members quickly responded to the scene, rushing Adhana to Artemis Hospital in Sector 51 for initial medical attention. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to a private hospital in Sector 30 for further specialized treatment and recovery.

Police Investigation and Legal Action

Local authorities were notified of the incident through the hospital and promptly collected the medico-legal case (MLC) report. After being declared medically fit by doctors, Adhana recorded his official statement with the police on April 7.

A case has been formally registered under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 125A (act endangering life) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Sector 65 police station. An investigating officer provided an update on the ongoing efforts.

“We are verifying the allegations, including whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol. Efforts are underway to trace and identify the accused,” the officer stated, emphasizing the commitment to a thorough inquiry.

Broader Implications and Community Concerns

This incident has sparked discussions about road safety in Gurgaon, particularly on busy routes like CRPF Road. The allegations of drunk driving and the accused's claim of immunity have drawn public attention to issues of accountability and law enforcement.

Residents and authorities are calling for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations to prevent such accidents in the future. The case continues to develop as police work to locate the suspect and verify the claims made in the complaint.
