Gurgaon Student Succumbs to Injuries After Scooty Accident on Dwarka Expressway
A tragic road accident on the Dwarka Expressway has claimed the life of a young college student from Gurgaon. Pulkit Manocha, a 21-year-old resident of Arjun Nagar, was a third-year BCom student who died during treatment after his scooty was struck by an unidentified vehicle driven rashly.
Details of the Fatal Incident
The accident occurred on the evening of Thursday, March 19, near the Basai exit on the Dwarka Expressway. Manocha was returning from his college in Delhi when an unidentified vehicle, being driven in a reckless manner, collided with his two-wheeler on the main carriageway. The impact was severe, leaving the young student with critical injuries.
Immediate Response and Medical Treatment
A passer-by who witnessed the accident immediately took the injured Manocha to a private hospital in Basai for initial medical attention. Recognizing the seriousness of his condition, he was subsequently shifted to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi the following day for advanced treatment and specialized care.
Despite receiving medical attention at two different facilities, Pulkit Manocha succumbed to his injuries on Sunday. The medical efforts proved insufficient to save the young student's life, marking a devastating outcome for his family and community.
Police Investigation and Legal Action
Police authorities received information about the accident on March 19 through a head constable who was on emergency duty at the time. The damaged scooty was seized from the accident spot as part of the initial investigation. On March 21, the private hospital formally informed police about the injured man, prompting authorities to collect medical records and initiate legal formalities.
Following Manocha's tragic death, his sister Himanshi filed a formal complaint at Rajendra Park police station, demanding action against the unidentified driver responsible for the accident. Based on her complaint and supporting medical evidence, police have registered a case under specific sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The case has been registered under sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) of the BNS, reflecting the serious nature of the offense.
Ongoing Investigation Efforts
Police officials have confirmed that intensive efforts are currently underway to identify the vehicle involved in the accident and trace the driver responsible. The investigation team is examining all available evidence, including witness statements and forensic analysis of the damaged scooty, to establish the complete sequence of events leading to the fatal collision.
