Gurgaon Police Apprehend Three in Disturbing Extortion and Assault Case Targeting Diagnostic Centre Employee
In a shocking incident that has rattled the city, Gurgaon police have arrested three individuals for allegedly assaulting a pathlab collector, filming him in a nude state, and extorting a substantial sum of money from him. The crime unfolded in the Mohammadpur Jharsa locality situated along the Dwarka Expressway during the latter part of February.
Deceptive Lure and Violent Confrontation
The victim, an employee of a diagnostic centre in Sector 83, was reportedly enticed to a flat within the AVL 36 society on Dwarka Expressway under the false pretence of collecting a blood sample. His initial visit occurred on February 25, where he interacted with a 24-year-old woman identified as Jyoti, who obtained his contact details to receive the test report. Subsequently, she began persistently contacting him, urging further meetings.
The situation escalated dramatically on March 2 when the collector returned to the same flat for another purported sample collection. Upon his entry, Jyoti left the door ajar, allowing two male accomplices to enter the premises. According to police officials, the trio then launched a physical assault on the man.
"The three accused assaulted him, compelled him to disrobe, and recorded explicit video footage of him in the nude," stated a senior police officer involved in the investigation.
Financial Extortion and Prolonged Ordeal
Following the humiliating recording, the perpetrators allegedly threatened to falsely implicate the victim in a rape case, leveraging the compromising footage to coerce him into transferring money. They forced him to part with Rs 2 lakh through digital transactions.
The harrowing experience continued as the accused transported the man in a Scorpio SUV, demanding an additional Rs 5 lakh, which he fortunately did not possess. After approximately five hours of captivity and intimidation, they eventually released him at the society where his motorcycle was parked.
Police Investigation and Arrests
The case came to light after the traumatised victim mustered the courage to file a formal complaint at the Sector 37 police station. Swift investigative work led to the identification and apprehension of the culprits.
The two male accused, also in their early twenties, were identified as Harish Yadav, alias Monu, a resident of Kahnavas village in Rajasthan's Alwar district, and Shyam Sundar, alias Ashok, hailing from Khairoli village in Mahendragarh. They were taken into custody on March 7. Jyoti, a resident of Taj Nagar village in Gurgaon, was arrested the following day on March 8.
Police revealed that the trio initially connected through the social media platform Instagram and subsequently conspired to trap and extort money from men using this calculated method.
Recovery of Evidence and Legal Proceedings
"During the thorough investigation, police successfully recovered Rs 1.63 lakh out of the extorted Rs 2 lakh. Authorities also seized the Scorpio vehicle used in the crime and four mobile phones," detailed police spokesperson ASI Sandeep Turan.
After their police custody remand concluded, the accused were presented before a judicial court and have been remanded to judicial custody as the legal process continues.
This incident underscores concerning trends of digital-facilitated crimes and premeditated extortion schemes in urban areas, prompting calls for heightened vigilance and robust law enforcement responses.
